The Whole Point

Frozen Sky is a Digimon screenshot archive. It’s not about written content. It’s not about scans. It’s about screenshots. That’s all. Like it, love it, hate it, or leave it, that’s what it is.

Usage Policy

If you’d like to use the screenshots found on this site for your graphics (banners, signatures, avatars, etc.), feel free. After all, I don’t own them. That said, I’d rather you didn’t copy them all and make your own archive for your site and take credit. So basically they’re free for creative use, but not duplication.

A Little History

Way, way back in August 2001, I opened up a little site called The Anime/Gaming Project, using the alias Kyidramon for myself. It was my first immature attempt at website design. It was unfocused and hardly lived up to it’s name. I opened it because I wanted to create a screenshot archive like that of The Digimon Experience, but didn’t want to limit myself to just that.

Around September 2002, I got a little more ambitious. Having gotten a bit more adept at web design, I was of course working on always making the site look better. Beyond that I wanted to expand the scope of my content, and add stuff about music (lyrics and band pictures mostly) to the site. I renamed it The Project Connection, with projects for anime, gaming, and music. It was haphazard and unfocused at best. If I were someone else I would have thought I had A.D.D.

Ironically enough, those were the initials of the next iteration of the site. In August 2003 I remerged the site and renamed it A Digital Dream. It was at this time that I adopted the alias Nite Phire, and also dropped the music content from the site. Going forward from here, I added screenshots for several Ghibli films, as well as Cowboy Bebop and the Digimon movies. The Digimon series remained elusive as I couldn’t find any high quality videos of it. I added all sorts of gaming information, some anime and manga reviews and basic information pages. I even worked up some episode guides for Digimon.

As I got older and went through high school, I became much busier with school and work. I lost the motivation to write content. I worked more on layout designs and back-end coding than any of the real content. In August 2006 I moved A Digital Dream to Frozen Sky. The content was largely the same, even though parts may have been rewritten.

I can’t say I really did much with the site between then and the spring of 2008. At that point I worked on taking some high quality screenshots of Digimon and made the decision to abandon the other aspects of the site. After all, Digimon screenshots were the main reason I got into web design in the first place and I didn’t care for the other content of the site, at least not enough to actually work on it. I found that I still had the motivation to work on screenshots though. Somehow. So when I switched servers, I put the site on hiatus.

In January 2009, I reopened the site with its new focus. All business – a new, simple design and some solid (though not perfect of course) back-end coding. Not overly-ambitious, as so many of my projects in the past were, but just enough to get the job done and get it done well.
